Post-Op Instructions

 

 

Keep your dressing clean and dry

 

Keep your surgical site elevated above the level of your heart

 

Avoid any excessive activity

 

Use ice for 10-15 minutes every hour for swelling and pain control
 

Take pain medication as prescribed
 

Your surgery follow up visit is generally schedules on your second post operative day
     
     
   

Complications

 
 

Should you have excessive bleeding or drainage return to our office, if after hours contact the on call physician

 

Numbness/tingling, increasing pain, swelling, color change (pallor or dusky appearance) of extremity fingers/toes; first try changing positions, loosen any constrictive bandages or dressings.  If no relief of symptoms within 10 minutes, contact the on call physician

 

Should you have a cast applied after surgery and any of the above symptoms occur:
   
  ? During office hours come in immediately

Increasing redness of the surgical site:
   
  ? During office hours come in immediately
  ? After hours contact the on call physician
